COVID-19

The main preventive measures were started in the days when the spread of Covid started. As part of that, masks and sanitizer were distributed. We have been able to prepare the above systems in our riots and have disinfected all our FMC offices and FWS offices.

For the first time in history, the years have passed in which a revolutionary change has taken place in the marketing of fish. As per the instructions of the District Collector, we were able to conduct fish marketing in the auction halls without the noise of auction calls. It was led by FWS members, key workers and employees. The marketing method followed social distancing. Instead of auctioning the fish, the method of weighing and selling the fish was adopted. It has won praise at national and international levels and has earned the name Kollam model of fish marketing. But it is a sad fact that nothing has happened in terms of the price fixed by the Harbor Management Society and the stocking of surplus small fish through the fish feed. Due to this, the price of fish also fell.

We are proud to say that we have been able to distribute free food kits worth Rs 750 to all the owners, workers, auctioneers and employees of our organization with the help of FWS central organization SIFFS to support our members in the context of daily reduced income due to covid. Reserved parking is also handled by our parent organization FCDP. We have spent about seven and a half lakh rupees for this.
